Put Up Your Dukes - Let's Get Down To It!

And the debate rolls on....

Quite honestly, they are one hour into it and they loosing my interest - and I have my candidate chosen already. I say put 'em in a boxing ring (gloves optional) and really let them have at it! A good friend of mine tonight mentioned she is looking forward to the VP debate - if and when it happens. Hey, they still believe in Santa Claus, don't they? Easter Bunny? Tooth Fairy? How about $3 gas again? Yeh, right.

Is it November yet?

Pond ering Politics

So, what is it all about? Who really knows. We are either brought up one way or the other or we learn along the way what values and issues are of most importance to us. Is one party really right or wrong? Who knows. Is it a choice by the head or the heart, or a combination of both? I gots my questions.

On to more important things, like the start of the new NCIS next week along with ER. About my two favorite shows with a close 2nd and 3rd being Jon Stewart and Bill Maher. What would we do without those two guys? Where in the world would we find a reason to laugh about all of this political mayhem, where would we learn to laugh at our candidates and ourselves and without them, where would we get tomorrow's water cooler conversation? We'd have nothing to talk about.

OK, it's late (for me anyway) and I'm going to call it a night. Good night and Good Campaigning! Let's keep it clean, honest and real (yeh, right - I am from another planet!). Ciao.

Get The Ballot Ready

We're just about two months away from the most historical election in history and I just can't contain all of my excitement! Especially for all of the annoying political campaigning telephone calls. What a shame that political endorsements, etc., are exempt from the Do Not Call Registry. Now we have to endure the endless telephone ringing and those terrible pre-recorded messages that take up the entire tape or disk space on our recorders. And then there are those who are brave enough to come knocking on doors - despite the No Solicitation sign on my front door. And yes, I believe they are selling something - they're selling their candidate. Same thing to me. You just gotta love, love, love election season. And we not only have the Presidential race, we have local competition as well for Council seats and our Mayor. Signs are already sprouting up on street corners and it's only a matter of time before the mud starts slinging. Oh wait - they've already started that on the national level!

It's gonna be a long 60 days...

Whew...We Got Lucky!

Tropical Storm Hannah literally "blew" through Hampton Roads today. Actually, it was supposed to hit us overnight last night and into the morning, but upon rising today, it really didn't get into full swing here until mid-morning. We didn't get heavy rains here at the coast - but inland around Richmond and points further west got slammed! The winds weren't too bad through the duration until a little later in the day. We had some heavy limbs come off of trees and could hear lots of things going "bump" on the roof. I think overall, Hampton Roads got spared the brunt of this storm. Most locals will say we dodged another one. Which means we're going to get hit hard one of these days and probably sooner than we thought.

When does our luck run out?
